Through our partnership with Pennsylvania’s Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), additional avenues of higher education funding are made available through Partnerships for Access to Higher Education (PATH) Grants.  Grants from the PATH Program provide dollar-for-dollar support and do not have to be repaid.  Usually, no additional paperwork is required by students in order to be eligible for a PATH program match.

Several steps are required for students to qualify for funding:

  • The Lancaster County Community Foundation automatically submits the names of our annual scholarship awardees;
  • Eligible students must be enrolled in an approved Pennsylvania college or career school;
  • Students must be a State Grant recipient and have a federal student loan of at least $100;
  • Students must demonstrate financial need for a PATH grant (using the FAFSA application process); PATH grants will cover any last-dollar support.

Depending upon a student’s remaining financial need, PATH matching grants can effectively double the foundation’s scholarship award (please note that PATH grants cannot exceed the maximum State Grant for the particular academic year.)  Grants will be paid directly to the student’s school for tuition, books, and fees.

For more information about establishing a scholarship fund to help students at any level achieve their educational goals – and leverage the fund automatically with PATH Program matching grants – contact our Director of Development at 717-397-1629.
