The Lancaster County Community Foundation recently concluded an 18-month visioning process to identify effective strategies to meet our core purpose of creating extraordinary community.

In June 2007, the Community Foundation implemented a change agent model to take full advantage of “tipping point” opportunities to capitalize on our community’s thriving arts heritage as well as to create greater capacity for excellence among local nonprofit organizations through a second phase of LeadWell.

In adopting this strategic, outcome-centered approach, the Community Foundation has committed the majority of its human, financial and knowledge resources over the next three to five years to identify and implement strategies that will position Lancaster County to create extraordinary community through the arts and nonprofit capacity building.

While we have no plans to offer competitive grants through our Strategic Initiatives at this time, the Community Foundation will continue to offer grants to eligible nonprofit organizations through our competitive funds, including our new LeadWell Management & Organizational Development (MOD) Grant program.

The Community Foundation will utilize a planning process to identify strategies to create extraordinary community in the arts in 2007 and implement action steps identified through the planning process in 2008. The same process will be utilized to identify strategies to create extraordinary community through the second phase of LeadWell later this year.
